WORK HISTORY
Process Engineering Specialist @Polar Performance Materials
Oakville, ON, CA
Performed design calculations, sized process equipment, managed installation and commissioning of several new processes including- HCl receiving/bulk storage tank and distribution piping (Saves 250K a year by eliminating tote delivery)- Powder homogenizing machine- Bead Milling processDeveloped work instructions for newly commissioned processes to ensure smooth hand-off to production staff.Provided process expertise for several HAZOP studies, led HAZOP\'s for newly commissioned Bulk Acid system and Rotary Calcine furnace. Managed contractors and in-house staff to drive design changes resulting from the studies to completion. Prepared P & IDs for all processes and building utilities using AutoCAD.Built a basic maintenance management system with excel forms and VBA macros, uploaded to Sharepoint allowing company wide access to work order creation and tracking.Developed data visualization tools in Python Jupyter Notebooks to plot batch-to-batch performance of poly-aluminum chloride (PAC) generation process. Used insights gained from plots to run trials (changing reaction temperature, varying acid dosing rate, varying starting mass of aluminum) with the goal of maximizing PAC throughputDeveloped ladder-logic programs in Allen Bradley PLC\'s to automate start-up, shutdown, and operation of a Calcination furnace/acid recovery system. Created a user-interface on an Automation Direct HMI to enable operator interaction with the automation system.Developed a block program to trigger an alarm when flow through an exhaust fan drops below a threshold using a Siemens LOGO! PLC
