ABOUT STEPHEN COURTRIGHT

Building a better future starts with building better leaders. That simple idea motivates my work in research, teaching, and practice.My research explores why people choose to use their power and influence to inspire, empower, and unite others—versus to harm, control, or withdraw—and how self-regulation, organizational practices, family relationships, and personal convictions, including faith, shape those decisions. I’m grateful to collaborate with wonderful colleagues and students on work that has appeared in leading scholarly journals and, along the way, has been recognized and shared more broadly through outlets such as NPR, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review.I’ve also had the privilege of teaching leadership courses at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels and helping design and lead leadership programs that support managers and organizations around the world. As a speaker and consultant, I enjoy partnering with organizations of all sizes—from large global companies to small businesses and professional associations. Most recently, I’ve helped launch the Flippen Leadership Institute and serve as its inaugural director, shaping programs, events, and research initiatives aimed at developing leaders of integrity and purpose in business and beyond.Above all, my wife, Nicole, and I are the proud (and busy!) parents of four children. Together, we love traveling, exploring the outdoors, watching Texas A&M sports, and serving in our church.
