Let’s find where it fits next-Break—Formerly the founder and Director of the San Jose Innovation Unit (SJIU), an interdisciplinary team of Marines with backgrounds in all fields of engineering, manufacturing, and commercial dual use technology. Reservists are the bridge between tech, resources, and the Active Component. We have (2) Missions. Firstly, we are in a collaborative partnership with our peers across the DoD, and use our combined knowledge to identify and vet technology (typically at a TRL -7 or above, and SBIR/STTR Phase 1-2). This occurs at a joint accredited training center where we get user feedback, and feasibility parallel to quarterly training exercises in an austere field environment. After a demand signal has been identified, we assist in getting these technologies into the hands of warfighters in the most expeditious manner possible. Secondly, we prototype low cost, high quality \"innovations\" and make them available through a secure open source platform with the intent to increase productivity, and minimize operational risk throughout the force. DoD leadership will not always have the ability to purchase the solutions they need, we give our intrapreneurs more tools, and information to better solve their own problems.
