About Stephanie Miller

Taffy (Stephanie) Miller has spent most of the last 25 years working in the field of strategic philanthropy, as a grant seeker, grantmaker, and on the ground as a local and national community worker in Canada, the U.S. and overseas. In the last few years, just like her husband (and Homefront Farmers owner) John, she has been scooped up by the spirit of farming and works on the family business with commitment and energy helping people to understand the value of growing their own food. Raised in Montreal, Taffy is a proud Canadian and received a graduate degree from McGill University. She sits on the Weston Board of Education and is Chair of Outreach and Social Action Committee at Norfield Congregational Church. Taffy quit work on the road to try new, local, health-giving experiences like baking bread and growing vegetables – and life has never been better. Taffy and John live in Weston and cherish spending time with their kids, Brian, Sam, Jack, Jenny and Davis. Philanthropy career: Extensive leadership experience in strategic philanthropy and large-scale, multi-year pro-active and responsive grant making, with proven success in developing strategic plans and sustained national programs. Experienced in helping to identify values and long-term grantmaking goals on behalf of foundation trustees and non-profit organizations’ leadership and staff. Understands the vital application of formative evaluation as guidepost for program development and execution. Highly organized and thoughtful facilitator, writer, listener and communicator. Able to build and nurture meaningful and effective relationships with/between high-level stakeholders, trustees, grantees and other relevant constituents. Creative, measured and responsible steward of philanthropic funds. Particular interest in cross-sectoral, collaborative funding strategies.

   At Homefront Farmers, we are passionate about helping bring all the benefits of an edible organic garden to your yard. We started designing, building and maintaining custom at-home gardens in 2011 with the goal of helping people produce their own food organically. We now serve over 170 clients across the region. There has never been a better time for families to grow their own vegetables.
