About Stephanie Barajas
Stephanie Barajas (she/ella) is a Bay Area-based Mexican immigrant, performer, photographer, and arts administrator. From 9-5, she is a Program Officer at the Center for Cultural Innovation, where she oversees the organization\'s California grantmaking portfolio. Stephanie is deeply involved in the South Bay arts ecosystem, having proudly represented the City of San Jose as a 2022 Creative License Ambassador. She is currently on her second term as Co-Chair for genARTS Silicon Valley\'s Executive Committee, a volunteer-run organization that supports emerging artists and arts leaders in Santa Clara County. Alongside her administrative role, Stephanie is a dedicated theatre artist and photographer who often collaborates with local theatre companies and publications. She is also deeply passionate about art, arts advocacy, fashion, fat liberation, and storytelling as a tool for change.Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Stephanie and her family immigrated to the Bay Area in 2006. She holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. She is a proud alum of the NALAC Leadership Institute and the Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute.

As Philanthropy Partner with The Sobrato Organization’s Deep in Place San José team, I lead efforts to activate the San José Nonprofit Center as a vibrant community hub rooted in belonging, collaboration, and opportunity. My work sits at the intersection of place-based philanthropy, community engagement, and systems change, supporting nonprofit tenants, youth, and community partners through convenings, capacity-building initiatives, and creative, community-informed programming.
