ABOUT STEPHANIE WHEEN

I am the CEO and Founder of Gympanzees - a multi-award winning charity providing fun, fitness and friendship to children and young people with disabilities. We launched our £8m capital fund-raising appeal called Project Home Appeal in 2023 - a campaign to build our permanent home for Gympanzees at the old Aust Services looking out on the Old Severn Bridge, which we purchased in July 2023. Our facility will offer play, exercise and social inclusion for the disabled children and young people who live within an hour of Bristol, improving their health and well-being and supporting their families out of isolation.You can find out more about the campaign at Gympanzees.org/appealI worked as a highly specialist disabled children’s physiotherapist from 2002, opening my private practice in 2012. I founded Gympanzees in 2016 in response to the massive lack of options for exercise in the community for my clients. I live and breathe Gympanzees but also love anything social or physical and in the great outdoors, including surfing, climbing, hiking, and trail running.
