I am the core researcher for this project and to utilizing this funding opportunity from the Mineta Transportation Institute to complete my master\'s thesis. Under the mentorship of Dr. Zandiatashbar, I am conducting an empirical investigation into Affordable Transit-Oriented Development (A-TOD) in California. My work employs advanced geospatial and urban data science techniques to evaluate transit infrastructure quality, TOD-supportive built environments, housing affordability, and the presence of minorities in the expanded California High-Quality Transit Areas (HQTAs). By developing classification and scoring systems, this project aims to assess the capacity of these areas to support A-TOD, offering valuable insights into the impact of California’s substantial investments in affordable housing within Transit-Oriented Development areas and their benefits for disadvantaged communities.
