ABOUT STEPHANIE MATSUBA
I am a Haitian-Japanese executive startup consultant, documentary film consultant, and mental health speaker. My previous work as a Chief of Staff in multiple, fast paced, growing organizations, has lead me to working as a consultant with early founders and seasoned executives. I bring expertise on investment strategies, top line business goals, and skills to building high profile and priority relationships with strategic partners. I currently sit as an advisor and board member for startups at the seed funding phase. As a filmmaker I have contributed to the production of a slate of documentary films and immersive projects including work on the the Oscar nominated documentary short LIFEBOAT. During my time with RYOT Films (acquired by Verizon Media) I lead a partnership with the Mandela estate and Global Citizen to create a virtual reality project honoring the legacy of Nelson Mandela which activated at the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a mental health speaker I focus on topics that drive dialogue about cultural identity & mental health in historically marginalized communities. I have participated in mental health campaigns at both a National and International scale, most recently partnering with NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness), speaking at their national and virtually accessible convention this past year. Living with a mental health diagnosis, I feel accountable to share my story as a way to provide permission if needed for others to feel empowered to take a look at their own mental health. I prioritize spearheading conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion always connecting my personal ethos and purpose to my professional focus. I work towards a future that includes historically marginalized groups continuing to grow in areas of art, technology, and generational wealth.
