About Stephanie M. Williams

Growing up, I liked true crime before it was cool. I attended Virginia Tech and majored in chemistry thinking that I was going to work in a lab helping to solve crimes. After participating in undergraduate research projects, I realized that I hated being in a lab. At the time, Virginia Tech was beginning to offer introductory intellectual property law classes to get engineering students interested in intellectual property. I took a few of these courses and quickly decided that I was going to go to law school to become a patent attorney. As a patent prosecution attorney, I help companies protect their inventions while still having the opportunity to nerd out as I learn about the technological advancement my clients are making. My practice is focused on patent preparation, prosecution, and opinion work. My degree in chemistry lends itself to my clients in the technology areas of glass and glass ceramics, additive manufacturing, and specialty engineered materials. Outside of the office, I can usually be found with my husband, Shamus, chasing around our twin daughters, Imogen and Keva. We love to hang out with friends and family, which usually happens at a brewery. I enjoy sports of all kinds and cheering on my Virginia Tech Hokies, the Buffalo Bills, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. If you have any questions or would simply like to connect over lunch or a drink, I would be happy to meet you.
