About Stephanie Hedt
I’m Director of External Affairs at the USC Schaeffer Institute for Public Policy & Government Service, where I lead communications, events, and stakeholder engagement to ensure our research reaches and informs policymakers, media, and healthcare leaders. My work focuses on translating evidence-based research into accessible, actionable insights. I partner closely with research, policy, and advancement teams to elevate Schaeffer’s portfolio and strengthen its position as a leading voice in health policy. I also lead efforts to define and measure the institute’s impact, developing strategies and metrics to assess how our work reaches and influences key audiences. My background spans nonprofit administration, program management, and public policy research, including work in early childhood education, national service programs, and refugee resettlement and food security initiatives. While completing my graduate studies, I contributed to CDC-funded research on public health interventions in South Los Angeles. I hold bachelor’s degrees in communication and anthropology from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in public policy from the USC Price School of Public Policy.
