A class teacher for over 20 years I have experience in teaching Foundation Stage through to Year 2. I have been phonics and spelling subject leader and Foundation and KS1 phase leader and a member of Senior Leadership teams. I spent 3 years in the Local Authority, as an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) raising standards in designated Kent schools through coaching and mentoring, training, whole school initiatives and projects. My current role as a Teaching and Learning Consultant is varied and includes supporting and training EY practitioners, teaching assistants, class teachers, ECTs, subject leaders and senior leaders to raise standards in schools and nurseries. My aim is always to improve outcomes for all children. My role includes supporting practitioners and teachers through in-class support, modelling lessons and providing support with planning, behaviour management and ongoing assessment and feedback to children. I use a coaching and mentoring model when in the setting or classroom. My area of expertise is phonics and spelling and I provide bespoke training in pre phonics skills, Early Years writing, phonics and spelling through to Year 7. I have also provided staff training and INSET days on Learning to Learn, Growth Mindset, Assessment for Learning, Talk for Writing and Guided Reading.
