ABOUT STEPHANIE GOUTOS

I\'m an attorney and innovation leader who builds the systems, tools, and strategies that help organizations prepare for and thrive in the future of work. As Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at Littler Mendelson, I lead the firm\'s global AI strategy, governance, and adoption. My work sits at the intersection of employment law, technology, and innovation - translating AI into practical, scalable solutions that change how legal work gets done and how clients manage workforce risk. Before Littler, I served as Head of Employment Law Practice Innovation at Gunderson Dettmer, where I was the first hire on the employment team and helped build the practice from the ground up. Over time, I reimagined how the group worked — redesigning workflows, streamlining delivery, and deploying AI-driven tools that made complex legal work faster, smarter, and more practical for startups, VCs, and their founders. That mindset also contributed to Gunderson developing and launching ChatGD in 2023 — the first internal GenAI platform deployed at a U.S. law firm — followed by the firmwide rollout of DeepJudge and Perplexity, both of which saw exceptional adoption. My philosophy has always been simple: figure out how things could work better, then build the systems to make it happen. I love a complex challenge and thrive at thinking outside of the box to solve it, whether it\'s advising startups on responsibly integrating AI into their hiring processes or helping established companies rethink workforce structures in the age of automation. My foundation is employment law, class action defense, complex litigation - nearly 15 years of practice, which means I understand what\'s actually at stake when organizations get the future of work wrong. I was among the first lawyers to publish thought leadership on generative AI. My 2024 Berkeley Business Law Journal article has been cited by federal judges, state bar associations, the Sedona Conference, Bloomberg Law, and incorporated into law school curricula nationwide. I\'m also the founder of Stephanie\'s Weekly AI Bites, which I started because I was tired of recycled AI headlines with no practical guidance. Now, thousands of leaders subscribe every week for guidance on how to navigate the future of the workplace. I\'m always interested in connecting with people who are building, leading, or thinking about what work looks like next. Subscribe to Weekly AI Bites:
