ABOUT STEPHANIE COLVIN

I graduated from the University of Surrey with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2013. During my studies I spent an industrial placement year at National Instruments, learning LabVIEW and TestStand skills while developing knowledge of data acquisition, test, control and automation systems. After my degree I began working as a Systems Engineer at Simplicity AI Ltd where I further developed my LabVIEW and TestStand skills to become a Certified Developer in both platforms. From December 2014 until June 2016 I worked as a Process Development Engineer in the Encoders Division at Renishaw as a LabVIEW Engineer developing software and interfaces for test systems and data viewing applications. In June 2016 I joined the Electronics System Verification team at Dyson working on verification of electronics systems, developing test strategies and solutions. I progressed to System Verification Technical Manager in 2019, managing a small team of engineers, and leading verification process and solution development of electronics systems in Dyson products. In November 2022 I took the opportunity to move into a role at The Dyson Institute. The workplace engineering position allows me to focus on training, coaching and mentoring engineers right at the start of their careers when they are still deciding what engineering focus they might like to persue. Working with Engineering teams across the business to ensure the workplace experience prepares our Undergraduates to be Engineering Leaders of the future.
