ABOUT STEPHANIE CAGNIART

Stephanie Cagniart represents clients in a broad range of complex litigation matters such as contract and fraud cases, constitutional and statutory-interpretation disputes, and general commercial litigation. Over the course of her career she has handled numerous appeals in state and federal courts, including before the Texas Supreme Court, state appellate courts, multiple United States Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Stephanie has also represented clients in state and federal trial courts, and she draws on that experience when advising trial lawyers as an appellate attorney.Before joining Alexander Dubose & Jefferson, Stephanie was a litigation partner at a large international law firm working on high-stakes business disputes. She was also a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, where she handled criminal appeals raising novel statutory and constitutional issues. She clerked for the Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and has served on the faculties of the University of Virginia School of Law and The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute and a board member of the Bar Association for the Fifth Federal Circuit.Stephanie’s experience and the results she obtains for her clients have led to numerous recognitions.
