ABOUT STEPHANIE BOLAND

I’m an editorial and digital strategist with a background which spans media, product and tech.I grow online audiences by bringing together the critical elements of product, editorial and commercial. I’m especially interested in helping businesses transition to their next phase of digital growth, redefine their customer offer, and integrate AI not only for efficiency, but to empower teams to do their best work.My experience as a web editor for current affairs titles and in national newsrooms - including three years leading on online editorial as Head of Digital at Prospect magazine - is met by content strategy experience at places such as Meta, where I owned web content in EMEA before joining a team working on new and high-growth products.I’ve managed investment across editorial and production, established data frameworks to tie engagement to enterprise revenue, and spearheaded AI adoption to improve operations. I’m adept at turning data into actionable insights which complement editorial judgement by helping writers understand their readers.As a journalist, I’ve written for the Guardian, i, LA Review of Books, Asymptote and the Telegraph, appeared on Radio 4, BBC World News and ITV, hosted events at Hay Festival, and shared my digital knowledge across podcasts, workshops, and as an associate lecturer at Birkbeck College.I’m proud to be one of the founders of The Second Source, set up in 2017 as an alternative network for women in the media. Since then, we’ve held dozens of workshops and training sessions, run a mentor scheme for over 150 young journalists and contributed to industry guidelines and a report in the European Parliament.
