About Stephanie Black
With over 20 years of experience in operations and financial management, I’ve built my career across technology, life sciences, venture capital, and emerging market firms, while remaining actively engaged in the local investment community.I began my career as a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG, auditing and consulting for international Fortune 500 firms in the Information, Communications, and Entertainment industries. From there, I advanced into finance leadership roles at Ionis Pharmaceuticals (IONS) and Island Data Inc.(a pioneer in real-time customer analytics using Big Data). In 2001, I became Director of Finance at Mission Ventures, a San Diego venture capital firm, where I managed financial reporting and operational functions across multiple successful funds.After relocating to Raleigh, NC, I built and led the Accounting and Finance functions at HireNetworks, a technical staffing firm supporting emerging companies, start-ups, and equity-backed ventures nationwide. I then entered the renewable energy sector with Modern Energy, where I provided intercompany and consolidation expertise to their portfolio of companies, further expanding my impact in high-growth industries.Today, I’m proud to continue that journey at Strata Clean Energy as their Corporate Controller, contributing to the company’s mission of delivering value to customers, communities, and future generations by creating new opportunities for clean energy.
