Stephan is a Managing Director and currently has two roles at Goldman Sachs: 1) the Head of Goldman\'s Legacy Consumer businesses and their respective operations and P & Ls and 2) the Global Head of Strategy for the Platform Solutions (\"PS\") segment.As Head of Legacy Consumer Businesses, he currently leads the Marcus Personal Loans, Small Business Lending, MarcusPay and Checking businesses, which publicly contributed >$230 million of pre-tax income in 2023, and the associated shutdowns of each business. He also led the sale of the GreenSky business, which closed in Q1 2024.Under his leadership, the Personal Loans business won both \"Best Debt Consolidation Loans (Best Overall)\" and \"Best Personal Loans (Best for Terms up to 72 Months)\" from Forbes Advisor.In his role as Global Head of Strategy for PS, he leads strategy (including strategic planning processes through annual & quarterly OKRs), partnerships, M&A (acquisitions and divestitures) and strategic investments for the segment, which encompasses Goldman’s consumer and commercial banking and embedded finance businesses - Transaction Banking, Enterprise Partnerships (Apple & GM partnerships), and ETF Accelerator. Stephan was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for Finance in 2021.He is also a strong supporter of diversity, equity and inclusion. He was Chair of and led the Americas Pride Month Committee in planning and coordinating all GS Pride Month events, and served as 1) advisor to GS\' Hispanic / Latinx Inclusion & Diversity Committee Pillar, 2) the Executive Office Division’s representative on the LGBT Steering Committee and 3) a mentor to summer interns of the Diversity Champions Council.He is proudly married to Jonathan Lambert-Melton, Raleigh’s first LGBTQ+ individual ever elected to City Council at-large.
