Stephanie H. Hoelscher, DNP, RN, NI-BC, AIMP, CPHIMS, CHISP, FHIMSSDr. Steph Hoelscher is Professor of Graduate Informatics and MSN Informatics Program Director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. With nearly three decades of experience spanning oncology, trauma, and nursing informatics, she focuses on advancing digital health and intelligent systems that strengthen clinician learning, frontline practice, clinical decision-making, and patient outcomes.She is the creator of the N.U.R.S.E.S. AI Literacy Framework—Navigate AI basics, Utilize AI strategically, Recognize pitfalls, Strengthen skills, ensure Ethics in action, and Shape the future—which provides clinicians with a practical, ethical pathway for integrating artificial intelligence into healthcare. She also founded the AI Literacy Collaborative at TTUHSC to support scalable education, faculty development, and interdisciplinary engagement around AI fluency and responsible innovation.An ANCC board-certified informaticist, HIMSS Fellow, and certified AI management and prompt-engineering professional, Dr. Hoelscher leads initiatives focused on AI readiness, intelligent systems design, EHR optimization, clinical burden reduction, and the development of usable, human-centered digital tools. Her scholarship includes contributions to the CPHIMS Review Guide, The Nature of Pandemics, and a growing body of work addressing AI literacy, ethics, regulatory and legal considerations, cybersecurity, and specialty-specific AI applications across nursing practice.Her professional service includes serving as an AI advisor for EBSCO, co-chairing the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Education & Networking Task Force, mentoring through the TTU Industry Advancement Technology Accelerator (iAT), and advising national and international groups on generative AI, digital technology risk and benefits, and workflow optimization.
