ABOUT STELLA PFAU
As Director of Programs and Community Partnerships at Jefferson County Greenways, I lead strategy and implementation for environmental education, public programming, volunteer engagement, and cross-sector partnerships across a growing network of nature preserves in Jefferson County, Alabama. I oversee a dynamic team, delivering community-centered programming that advances ecological stewardship, public access to nature, and meaningful place-based learning. I’m particularly focused on expanding equitable access to greenspaces and creating pathways - from early childhood through adulthood - that foster environmental literacy and stewardship. As a Birmingham native, I am deeply committed to strengthening my city through nature-based solutions. I believe thriving greenspaces are essential civic infrastructure - and that connecting people to the outdoors builds healthier communities, stronger neighborhoods, and a more resilient region.
