ABOUT STELLA G. UZOGARA

Dr Uzogara is a Congressional Science and Technology Policy Fellow with and ANDF, currently working in the US House of Representatives. There, she uses her background as PhD scientist and experience in public health nutrition and education to advise on policy and lead on issues relating to maternal and child health, science, food security, climate, environment, & SDOH. As Interdisciplinary scientist, & Diversity Leader, she always helped others to succeed. Uzogara has a variety of work experiences in government, higher education, non-profit, and industry, both in the USA and international settings. As a diversity leader in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, she collaborated and contributed to the Academy’s Diversity Strategic Plan by developing a toolkit for diversity liaisons and helped to attract people of diverse demographics into the Academy.(https://governancemanagement.webauthor.com/vault/2601/web/files/Academy%20Programs/Diversity/Diversity-Liaison-Toolkit.pdf ). Uzogara was winner of several honors and awards, including; •Abbott’s Nutrition award in Women’s Health(2023) •Board Member Appointment, MA Board of Registration of Dietitians & Nutritionists(2023); •Diversity Promotion awards(2021); •Public Health and Community Nutrition awards (2019); •Next-Gen Public Service awards (2018); •Member Board of Directors, Public Health Community Nutrition(2017); •Lifetime Achievement awards; •Gateway Teaching awards, and many others. In 2018, she was listed among the NextGen Nation’s Top As an epidemiologist at Massachusetts (MA) Department of Public Health (DPH), she successfully coordinated needs assessment, data analysis, evaluation, and surveillance in the Women, Infants and Children\'s (WIC) program. She served as liaison for pregnancy and pediatric nutrition between the CDC and the state of MA; she collaborated in producing DPH quarterly diversity newsletters. As a department head with leadership and administrative experience, Uzogara chaired the Biochemistry Department at the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, and successfully led the Department which passed academic accreditation by Nigeria’s National Universities Commission. She also promoted strategic alliance between the Biochemistry Department and the Medical School. Uzogara taught college science as faculty at Bentley University and other MA colleges including Roxbury Community College (RCC) in Boston where she received the RCC’s Gateway Award for teaching excellence and for facilitating student learning.
