ABOUT STEFANO SANDRONI

I am a senior geoscientist with more than 20 years of experience in the oil industry.After the university studies and Master in petroleum geoscience, I started my professional life as a juniorseismic processor for both land and marine seismic data either 2D or 3D. Main activities during the first yearswas to learn from senior professionals on how to analyse seismic data for oil and gas exploration purposeswith particular care on data quality and processes.After these first years I started working for a major oil company where I developed my career in geophysicaloperations, managing both the phase of planning surveys and preparing technical specification for contracttendering and field operations. The activities were driven by the request of exploration and developmentgroups and was constrained by technical, budget and above all HSE needs.The major part of my professional life developed in management, taking the advantages of the expertisegained in the field. As operations manager I was in charge of a group of about 60 people, I developedcapability of managing people both on company side and contractors\' side and enrich the experience inproblem solving and operational issues with emphasis on the HSE point of view.I have worked on numerous projects with high environmental standards in sensitive areas and contributedin defining environmental studies approaches in order to operate according to company standards and localregulations.Contract negotiation is a skill developed during all these years that helped me in establishing good workingrelationship with all the parties involved, trying to define contractual standards that allowed operationalflexibility with the aim also of cost reduction and efficiency.As manager of technical human resource, I have learnt to work with senior professional and benefit of theirexperience and also with young workers and to cope with their enthusiastic views and desire to growprofessionally and to design career development paths in collaboration with company HR office.
