ABOUT STEFANO BUFFA
Executive in banks and consulting firms, with responsibility over central functions focused on internal auditing, risk management and monitoring, internal control system, with a particular emphasis on analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of first and second line controls and the continuous quality improvement of operational and business processes, including the application of Robotic Process Automation and Intelligent Process Automation in Operations. In a context of growing attention to the integration of AI-based solutions, aspects related to the development of effective governance across various usage scenarios are becoming increasingly important. This is consistent with the requirements outlined in the European AI Act, which calls for monitoring and classification of AI applications based on associated risks, in order to identify appropriate mitigation and risk control actions, as well as ensuring transparency, fairness and ethics in the use of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (Responsible AI). My extensive experience in the banking sector, in particular on risk controls and credit management, has been further enhanced by my time at Accenture, where I have developed additional skills. I lead projects for major banks and insurance companies, consistently collaborating with the operational functions of clients and contributing to business process optimization activities. This involves improving quality, risk reduction and optimization, and achieving productivity improvement objectives through prudent workflows management and control testing.
