ABOUT STEFANIE HERING
Stefanie Hering, born 1967 in Stuttgart, is a German artist and ceramic designer, constantly reimagining the creative process behind everyday objects and challenging the notion of “Handmade in Germany” as founder of Hering Berlin. Honored with multiple design awards including the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hering maintains an important artistic output, notably installations of shapes, structures and patterns on handmade porcelain and handblown glass. Rejecting the ornamental traditions of German porcelain design, Stefanie reinvents the pure material that has often been vilified as bourgeois, intuitively creating shapes with rigorous lines and structures while highlighting a new and engaging approach to an almost forgotten craft. Stefanie Hering lives and works in Berlin.
