ABOUT STEFAN MERTENS
Hi I am Managing Director COO of Thum+Mahr GmbH in Germany.we ar part since 2022 of our big Mother Broadcast Solutions Group in Bingen Germany with subsidaries in many countries arround the world. I am in Broadcast Business since 1986 when I started as Systems Engineer for Digital mixing desks at WDR Cologne Germany. I had the pleasure to put together with my other WDR Engiineers the healing hands on the first NEVE DSP mixing system WDR installed in Cologne philharmonic hall fo live transmissionss which was a real nightmare because the desk mostely crashed during live transmission. After 6 years at WDR I changed the sides and became technical Director of Monitora Broadcast Systems at Hürth Germany, by that time 1992 one of the biggest systems integration companies ine Europe. We developed at Monitora together with my friend Thomas Volgmann the first digital Broadcast Mixer the \"Diamond\" which was a big success for Monitora. After Monitora wentbust in 1996 I became the Head of Media Department at VCS Nachrichten Technik Bochum responsible for the dira! playout system which is now the working horse for BBC and nearly all ARD Broadcaster and many more arround the world. When I left VCS in i extended the turnover of dira! sales by 10 times since my beginning at VCS.I went to Thum+Mahr where i extended the business as an international systems integrator for Broadcasters around the world with a focus on Workflo integration based on DHD mixing/Routing & Controlling systems. we deliverd more than 300 DHD systems for BBC Radio in London in the regions and all over the world for BBC Worls Service Studios.Now I am focusing with Thum+Mahr on software workflow integration and orchestration with our partners from Wolftech Norway, Embrace, DALET and Newsbridge from France and DAVID Systems/NETIA fromGermany/France to stremline the technical workflow in the individual ways the customers need.I belive in a view yeras after SAAS Cloud became the operation standard for Broadcasters everything will become a Service we will deliver for our customers.
