Director Airframe @Deutsche Aircraft

View department →

I lead our complete airframe engineering function, encompassing everything from primary & secondary structure design through materials processes and in-service fleet support. With five teams and over 100 people under my direction, my focus is on building an organisation capable of delivering both our 328eco program and the research initiatives that will define our future capabilities. One of my proudest achievements has been establishing the complete airframe engineering organisation in accordance with EASA Part 21J requirements. This involved defining and implementing all required methods, tools, interfaces, and processes from the ground up. It has been an opportunity to shape how engineering excellence and regulatory compliance work together in practice.

ABOUT STEFAN BRUNNER

I have spent the last 25 years at the intersection of engineering excellence and program leadership in European aerospace and defence. What drives me is the challenge of turning complex technical requirements into operational reality, whether that\'s building airframe engineering organisations from scratch or leading composite manufacturing programs for space launchers.Currently, I serve as Director Airframe at Deutsche Aircraft, where I oversee five multidisciplinary teams totaling over 100 professionals working on the 328eco program and advanced research initiatives. My career has taken me from the A380 program at Airbus through composite programs at MT Aerospace to my current role establishing EASA-compliant engineering operations.I am passionate about the balance between innovation and compliance in aerospace. Throughout my career, I have found that the best results come from empowering cross-functional teams while maintaining the rigorous standards our industry demands. With a Doktor-Ingenieur in Aerospace Engineering and recent certifications in project management and emerging technologies, I remain committed to continuous learning in this rapidly evolving field. I am always open to connecting with aerospace professionals to discuss program management, composite manufacturing innovations, and the future of European aviation technology.
