ABOUT SHANNON BOYD

Dr. Shannon Boyd serves on the core faculty at Texas A&M University-Texarkana in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He currently is an Instructor and the Director of Clinical Education.Dr. Boyd attended public schools in Paris, TX, graduating from Paris High School in 2003. He then completed undergraduate prerequisites at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX before entering the physical therapy program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Boyd graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2009.After four years of clinical practice, Dr. Boyd completed requirements to achieve Board Certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2013. He then furthered his training and education through the Regis University Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy based in Denver, CO. Dr. Boyd was recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) in 2017 which is a specialty achieved by less than 1% of physical therapists in the nation. In 2025, Dr. Boyd graduated with a Doctor of Science (DSc) in Physical Therapy from Bellin College.Dr. Boyd is heavily involved in advocacy efforts at both the state and federal level, and he currently serves as the Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Texas Physical Therapy Association. He was proud to be an integral component to improve direct access to physical therapy in the State of Texas in 2019 and 2025, and he is hopeful to continue to work on further improvements to access and fair reimbursement. Dr. Boyd also serves as a key legislative contact with both state and federal legislators regarding physical therapy and general health care related issues.
