The cultivation of algae provides compelling answers for 4 major global challenges: GHG emission mitigation (clean air), re-mediating waste water streams (clean water), renewable energy (transportation fuels including diesel, gasoline, hydrogen, diluent, aviation / jet fuels, etc), and food, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals. and so much more, including fertilizers.The emerging algae industry has the potential to eclipse the oil and gas industry as we know it. It is not IF the algae industry will become a dominant industry segment. it is a matter of how quickly it comes into being.Photobioreactor technologies are set to lead the way to reducing the cost of algae biomass, not unlike the paradigm shift in renewable energy sources like PV which are now, already competing with conventional fossil fuel energy.Involved in ongoing research to develop advanced photobioreactor systems for the cultivation of microalgae, development of analytical models to predict / simulate / optimize algae cultivation yields, techno-economic models, life cycle assessment models, leverage data science, AI / machine learning to enhance algae production yields.
