Stanley Lewis, MD, MPH is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of A28 Therapeutics, a privately held, clinical-stage biotechnology company developing targeted oncolytic peptides (TOPs) for the treatment of cancer. As a physician and biotech leader, Dr. Lewis brings more than 25 years of experience in clinical research, drug development, patient care, and teaching. Under his leadership, A28 Therapeutics is advancing innovative therapies designed to target cancer cells with precision while preserving patient quality of life—a mission that reflects his enduring commitment to science, simplicity, and humanity in medicine. Dr. Lewis is passionate about developing technology that unlocks new ways to treat devastating diseases and leading innovation across the biotechnology industry and beyond.Prior to founding A28 Therapeutics, Dr. Lewis served as Chief Medical Officer of Ansun Biopharma, where he led late-stage clinical trials of therapies for parainfluenza, influenza, and COVID-19. He played a central role in securing $100 million in Series B financing and contributed to the company’s successful in-licensing strategy. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Medical Officer of TaiMed Biologics, where he guided the development and U.S. FDA approval of TROGARZO™, the first long-acting agent and monoclonal antibody treatment for multi-drug resistant HIV disease. During his tenure, he oversaw multiple regulatory designations, manufacturing scale-up, and commercial licensing partnerships, demonstrating a proven ability to lead teams from discovery to global impact.Beyond his executive roles, Dr. Lewis serves on multiple scientific and medical advisory boards for organizations committed to improving healthcare, clinical research, and education. His career is marked by a rare blend of medical insight and strategic vision, having served as principal or co-investigator on more than 30 clinical trials and authoring over 50 peer-reviewed abstracts and publications. He continues to champion collaboration, patient-centered innovation, and mentorship as pathways to progress in medicine.Dr. Lewis earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, where he also completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in Internal Medicine, as well as his Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. He later joined the McGovern faculty as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Lewis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
