Profiled GPU kernels to achieve a speedup of up to 30x. Working with GPUs enableda strong understanding of GPU programming basics such as kernel launch parameters, shared memory, reduction, loop unrolling, registers, cache, and global memory for bothNVIDIA and AMD GPUs.– Developed a programming strategy to handle dynamically sized arrays on the GPU forsprays, minimizing CPU-to-GPU data transfers in C++.– Developed Lagrangian particle tracking library across decomposed domains using multi-rank communication with MPI in a hybrid CPU–GPU framework.– Validated combustion spray droplet evaporation for atmospheric and high-pressure boil-ing conditions.– Implemented and validated several boundary conditions, including mass flow rate inlet, wall model, and symmetry, on both CPUs and GPUs using multi-rank communicationprotocols as required.– Developed an agglomeration strategy for the Geometric Multigrid approach using Metisand manual agglomeration techniques to achieve 5 order reduction in average error.– Gained a comprehensive understanding of the mesh data structure, including readingvarious element types, establishing grid connectivity, and calculating other mesh defini-tions.– Developed an algorithm for converting structured to unstructured grids and flow, testedand validated it, and completed a global review.– Profiled legacy tools and identified bottlenecks, achieving a speedup of around 10x usingOpenMP parallelization.– Upgraded tools and dependent libraries to newer Fortran compilers, thereby gainingfamiliarity with build processes using Make and CMake.– Upgraded CGNS tools to handle 64-bit array sizes.– Worked towards setting up a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins for automated testing of thetools.
