ABOUT MEREDITH MYERS
Meredith Myers, the \"Stand-Up Librarian,\" has a Masters degree in Library & Information Sciences and began performing stand-up comedy in 2002 after checking out a comedy book from her local library. Binding her experiences in comedy & libraries, Meredith created Stand-Up Librarian in June of 2010 to educate and entertain people about the importance of libraries and literacy by developing and performing literary comedy shows and other programs at schools, libraries, and book events across the country promoting library services and reading. In 2012, she launched Stand-Up Librarian Designs, a literary fashion business that features over 100 products inspired by her favorite books & authors. During the pandemic, she sewed over face masks for librarians and book lovers all over the country. She\'s also worked with Barnes & Noble on their events and story times, participated in The Great American Teach-In as a guest speaker at elementary schools, and been a contributing writer for Creative Loafing Tampa and American Libraries magazine/ALA Direct covering literary events.In 2015, she accepted a Librarian position with Gracegate Library, a private library located in Tarpon Springs, FL. Over the course of six years, she helped build the library from scratch, where her responsibilities included everything from cataloging and processing the entire library collection of over items to sorting and storing the collection on the shelves and educating the patrons on how to find information, in addition to giving lectures and tours at library events. In 2022, she joined Pinellas County Schools as a Library Media/Technology Specialist at Midtown Academy, where she runs the library, manages all technology devices, produces the morning news show, and handles the school\'s social media and website.Since Meredith has also worked in public relations and marketing for various PR agencies in New York and Los Angeles, in addition to acting as a consultant for fashion designers, movie studios, music labels, television networks, restaurants, consumer products and sports teams. Prior to that she handled marketing and events for the Pinellas County Millennium Celebration/St. Petersburg College, a year-long job planning & publicizing community events honoring Pinellas County, and was the in-house Catering Sales Manager for The Tampa Bay Rays & The Straz Center. However, her long and diverse career officially began working in the promotions department for Cox Broadcasting, where she was also a weather reporter and producer for talk radio at just 19 years old.
