WORK HISTORY
Manager (Sustainable Development and Architecture) @Oracle
Kitchener, ON, CA
This position is as a member of a widely distributed and specialized team that is part of Devops and is focussed on technical debt and modularity. The team identifies and promotes architectural and process improvements to assist the development staff of a large web application with over 600 modules and 900 third party dependencies. Some of the team implements key cross product/team architectural changes that have no official home, while the rest of the team is focussed on monitoring and measuring the impact of all architectural changes. The monitoring is done through cloud based tooling that is provided through continuous delivery, combining a variety of Docker based services that interact to collect the results of a number of different static code analysis tools, and then report through Kibana dashboards and a custom webapp used for visualizing and searching the embedded dependency and ownership structure. My role is a mixture of development, quality assurance, team lead/manager, and full time scrum master. Focus has been on the design, testing, and releases of the static analysis and various reporting tools using a wide range of technologies and systems and is evolving towards team management.

ABOUT STAN DEVITT
I serve as manager and team lead for a team focused on driving efficient, sustainable development and architecture for a large project. We develop container based tools using Spring Boot, Vue.js, and React that provide custom analytics and streamline software development for large teams. I work as an architect, hands on developer, motivator, mentor, and trainer, I help transform development and testing. This involves guiding teams through major changes in the software development and delivery cycle through the introduction of good design, teamwork, appropriate tool selection, customization and automation all with an overall goal of increasing software quality and development efficiency. I work cross platform using: most scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, Groovy; DBMS systems (Oracle, Mysql); ELK stacks; data modelling, normalization and transformation; automatic-code generation and schema based semantic markup. I automate the setup and use of of high availability server clusters on various OS’s, using tools such as Puppet, Jetty, Apache, Tomcat, Nexus, Vault, Rancher, Docker, Jenkins and TeamCity and various kinds of artifact stores. I provide expert level guidance to teams on the use of the associated build and development tools such as Perfoce, Git, Gradle, Maven, Make, NPM, their associated IDE’s such as VSCode, Eclipse and IDEA,and the underlying infrastructure for use with languages such as Groovy, Java, and C++. Past accomplishments include lecturing and teaching in computational complexity, analysis of algorithms and operating systems; authoring and/or co-authoring W3C specifications (MathML - now an ISO standard) and W3C Notes, interactive textbooks and supplements, full interactive mathematical libraries, and work on automated reasoning systems for medical diagnosis through use of semantic web technologies and image analysis.
