About Stan Gordon
I’m a very hands-on internationally experienced senior executive with more than 25 years of success in the technology, hardware, software, manufacturing, enterprise, commercial, and consumer product industries. The majority of my career has been centered around new product innovation and R&D (e.g. computers, mobile technologies, and networking and connectivity products (IoT)), as well as large-scale software system design and implementation. Leveraging UIX, connectivity, and cloud technologies, I’ve had amazing opportunities driving class-leading consumer tech products, simple-to-use end-user interfaces, and enterprise-wide massive integrated systems, with improved costs, rapid adoption, and streamlined processes. While at Compaq, I was lucky enough to design and develop fun and innovative products, while receiving positive reviews for products I personally designed, from the Wall Street Journal and Japanese press. Consulting to key technology-industry software and hardware suppliers, I enabled their product globalization across all languages and geographies. Identifying a critical need in Daikin NA’s supply chain operations, I initiated the digital transformation of the 3rd largest manufacturing facility in the US under one roof (our new 4.2M sq ft facility near Houston Texas, is outsized only by Tesla Gigafactory and Boeing). Although highly profitable, our ‘70s-tech-based systems at geographically dispersed sites could not support the needed functionality and scale at our new mega site. I have truly enjoyed leading a team of amazing people in designing, deploying, and rocketing us to current technology (e.g. IIoT, Industry 4.0, M2M, SCADA). I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University, with an emphasis in Computer Design and Digital Control Systems. I speak, read, and write Japanese fluently. I have experience, in English and Japanese, at all organizational levels from R&D labs, to factory floors, and all the way up to the boardroom.
Experience
Vice President, Systems Engineering and Operations Technology
Jul 2017 — Present · Houston, TX, US
Digitally Transformed Daikin North America’s Manufacturing Facilities. Analyzed business needs, and factory operations, to identify business opportunities. Identified significant productivity losses due to process discipline issues, lack of systemic coordination, and no visualization capabilities. Spearheaded aggressive digital transformation strategy – designing, developing, and deploying mission-critical assembly automation, workflow, and data tools (capture, management, retrieval, visualization, and analytics), all available via devices from smart phones to PCs. Results: Workflow, content management, quality control, analysis, and notification systems allowed teams to execute to plan for second largest manufacturing site (under one roof) in the U.S. Automation and process control systems drove efficiencies in work content, while reducing initial product quality failures by over 50%(benchmarked against the best rate achieved within the last 10 years) for highest volume, most profitable products. All product lines have achieved greater than 20% initial product quality improvements through utilization of the new systems. Systems were modularly developed to be product and content generic via abstraction layers, and have now been extended to sister companies across multiple geographies, and ERP systems.
