About Stacy Ortego
I am a versatile, proactive, engaging, and articulate policy and communications professional in the nonprofit sector working on issue-based communications and mission-driven initiatives. My training background includes both science and business. I enjoy utilizing my skills in science communications to convey complex and technical subjects clearly and concisely. I work well both independently and with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines to meet goals. I\'m experienced with project development and oversight from start to finish. Additionally, I am responsible for developing and implementing communications efforts – including storytelling, media, public outreach, and government relations – to deliver strategic messaging to target audiences. My collaborative work includes coordinating with coalitions at the local and national level on advocacy campaigns.I\'ve conducted outreach and engagement activities with multiple stakeholders including local community members, government agencies, and through partnerships with other organizations. My responsibilities also include program implementation and management, communications (including social media management, content creation, website editing), developing advocacy campaigns, and grant writing and reporting.
