When I took my first role at Microsoft, I told myself I’d continue with the company as long as I kept learning, growing, and making a difference. Nearly 30 years later, I reflect on a career that’s taken me through a myriad of marketing and leadership roles including the consumer division to HR to Advertising, and back to HR—all while leaving a path of programs, projects, and measurable impact I’m proud of. I’m a strong communicator, built on the foundation of my journalism background, and I believe in building trust first—without it, all you have are words. Beyond that, actions are what drive me: Modeling our company values, coaching those with whom I manage and mentor, truly caring about my colleagues, and taking action that delivers results for our customers and partners. What I’m best at: Creating and delivering programs aligned to meeting specific objectives, including revenue; driving internal and external initiatives, particularly as it pertains to Microsoft’s core values, mission, and purpose; public speaking/spokesperson; and looking beyond reactive rushes to see the bigger picture. I believe in strategy over short-sightedness and have highly honed instincts when it’s time to cut features and ship.
