ABOUT STACY DRURY
I am the Psychiatrist in Chief at Boston Children\'s Hospital after almost two decades at Tulane University where I continue to have so many great colleagues and collaborators. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia (Biology and Religious Studies) and my Masters in Human Genetics at the University of Michigan. I then completed my MD/PhD (Genetics) at Louisiana State University and my adult and child psychiatry residencies at Tulane University. I direct the NIH funded Telomere Research Network and have on-going research projects across the United States and in Suriname, Sierra Leone, and Romania. My clinical work and research are centered on understanding the biological pathways through which early life adversity, within and across generations, influences child development and how the early parent child relationship can buffer these effects. My work centers on achieving health equity and addressing the systemic effects of structural and multi-generational racism and health disparities. I see transdisciplinary collaboration, in both research and clinical enterprises, as critical to enhancing our knowledge about the origins of child mental illness, the connections between mental and physical illness, and driving innovation in prevention and intervention efforts to not just treat child mental illness but, ideally, cure and prevent it.
