I have been a geotechnical engineer in the Des Moines area since 1994. I have experience as a geotechnical project engineer and project manager for hundreds of projects which have included, but limited to, commercial projects, public improvements (city and state) projects, residential developments, apartment/multi-family complexes, water and wastewater plants, agricultural projects, and landfills. Other project management duties include project management for Iowa Department of Transportation geotechnical on-call services which has ranged from bridges to several miles of new state highways.Geotechnical project assignments have included geotechnical analyses for buildings, parking ramps, streets, bridges, retaining structures, water and waste water treatment plants, agricultural buildings and bins, slopes, lagoons, ponds, parking lots, and dams. Other activities involve evaluation and remedial recommendations for settlement and heaving problems, analysis of landslides with remedial measures for failed slopes, providing engineering support on issues that arise during construction, pavement thickness analysis, review of concrete mix designs, and review of in-place density tests and concrete break tests. Daily activities include marketing and business development of both new and existing clients, managing personnel, preparing proposals, preparing geotechnical reports for public and private works, reviewing geotechnical reports, directing field explorations, conducting field explorations, performing and interpreting in-situ tests, supervising laboratory testing, and classifying soils. My experience has also included a startup of a business, Geotech Engineering & Observation.Specialties: Geotechnical engineering, construction quality control
