ABOUT STACY A. BOHLEN

My name is Stacy Bohlen. I am a citizen of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. And a citizen of the United States. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the National Indian Health Board … a position I’ve held 19 years. I am the longest continually serving Executive Director managing multiple Federal Health Equity Advocacy Campaigns serving all 574 Tribes in the USA. My Indian Name is “Turtle Woman”. With that moniker comes a mandate: “speak the truth for the people”. We build warriors at NIHB. It’s exciting. It’s a privileged position. It’s an honor and I love this team. I love this work. In Summary, in my tenure as Executive Director/CEO at NIHB, I have successfully advocated for and collaboratively facilitated the permanent reauthorization of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, led systems change to strengthen Tribal health, made unprecedented inroads in international indigenous health and increased Federal Health Care Funding (Budget & Appropriations) for Native American & Alaskan Natives by $19 Billion Dollars during the COVID pandemic, alone.
