About Stacie Lesure
Hi! I’m Stacie. A researcher by training, I\'m an educator and advocate driven by a passion to broaden the scope of STEM disciplines by making them more inclusive and diverse. As a woman in academia, I\'m keenly aware of issues faced by budding female researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators. This awareness led me to start a mission-driven organization which studies the issues affecting diverse participation and also does the ground work that encourage it. So far, my organization has successfully secured the confidence of our backers and raised $600K in funding. Do you want to learn how diversity can fuel real innovation? Do you want to know how your company can gain true competitive advantage? Do you want to be prepared for a future that is female and diverse? If your answers to these questions is ‘yes’, then connect with me to discuss how we can collaborate. Profile Summary As a Black woman who holds a deep love for STEM subjects, I have always been aware of how minority perspectives were lacking in these fields. My earlier work experiences in the industry and academia made this awareness acute. I soon realized that my true calling in life is creating welcoming spaces for women like me. Having varied work and academic experiences have afforded me insights about what encourages and deters female participation in STEM fields especially that of people of color. This has helped me in developing methods strategies grounded in qualitative data that add the missing minority perspective. I have also deepened my knowledge of these issues by reaching out to education and innovation communities. From youth outreach to briefing Congress on pertinent issues, I have always utilized opportunities that educate the public and advance the cause of inclusivity in industry and academia. If you believe in the potential of women to serve STEM professions or if you’re looking for ways your STEM organization can champion true diversity, I’d love to have you in my network. Thanks.
