Stacey is the founding Executive Director of NC Counts Coalition. She began working with the Coalition in 2017 to lead the state in achieving a complete, fair and accurate 2020 Census count. As Executive Director of NC Counts Coalition, Stacey has testified before Congress advocating for extending the 2020 Census timeline during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that BIPOC communities were not missed. Following the 2020 Census, Stacey transitioned NC Counts\' infrastructure to COVID-19 outreach to ensure vaccine equity in North Carolina\'s BIPOC communities. Through her leadership and vision, NC Counts Coalition is co-developing and implementing Healthier Together, a public-private partnership she launched alongside Governor Roy Cooper and Secretary Mandy Cohen, to advance health equity, starting with vaccine equity in NC\'s BIPOC communities. Stacey has a demonstrated commitment to building grassroots power through effective capacity-building support for nonprofits led by Black, Latino, Indigenous, or Asian executive directors, and organizing for collective action. Under her leadership and through her vision, NC Counts Coalition has- Led cross-sector partnerships and coordination among government, planning and community organizations, service providers, businesses and others to support a complete and accurate 2020 Census count for North Carolina that helped reduce the undercount of historically undercounted communities, helping North Carolina gain a congressional seat- Re-granted $3,655,370 and funded 75 community-based organizations (97 percent of which are led by people of color) with an average budget size of in a span of 6 months to advance vaccine equity. NC Counts Coalition grantees reached over 500K people through outreach activities such as: door knocking, phone calls, texts, and site-based contacts; and - Organized and mobilized about 150 state and national partner organizations for voting maps that truly represent BIPOC communities.
