ABOUT STACEY SLOAN BLERSCH

I have over 20 years experience working in ecological restoration & watershed planning in private, government, and academic sectors. For seven years, I worked as a project manager and restoration specialist for large scale ecosystem restoration projects in the Chesapeake Bay for the US Army Corps of Engineers (6 years) and the District of Columbia\'s Watershed Protection Division (1.5 years). My efforts in the Chesapeake Bay led me back to graduate school to address the numerous technical challenges facing large scale ecosystem restoration projects. I completed my PhD in environmental engineering as a NSF fellow in the Ecosystem Restoration through Interdisciplinary Exchange (ERIE) program at SUNY at Buffalo. My dissertation was focused on developing predictive tools and models for ecosystem restoration that link changes in ecosystem structure to specific ecological response. As a tenured professor at Columbus State University as an associate professor of hydrology, I taught courses in sustainability and the environment, hydrology, water resources management, conservation, and climate change. My research focused on ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, ecohydrology, metabolic signatures of freshwater ecosystems.I recently started a position with the USACE, Engineering Research and Development Center as research engineer and will be working on research affiliated with the National Collaboration on Eco-Hydraulics (NICE).
