Experience
Principal Data Scientist
Sep 2019 — Present · Denver, CO, US
During my tenure with Atlassian I\'ve prototyped, evangelized and scaled multiple predictive models that are now embedded in critical decision models spanning forecasting, lifetime value and customer classification.Notable achievements:• Wrote the first line of code for Atlassian\'s ML driven forecast pipeline responsible for providing forward looking estimates and setting KRs for critical metrics such as customer conversion, churn and expansion. By centralizing forecasting efforts, we\'ve effectively saved hundreds of Finance and Data Science work hours per quarter and established consistent processes for setting targets across the business.• Partnered with ML and Data Engineering teams to fine-tune open source LLMs to label user generated content and define new user-level metadata to measure customer penetration and expansion into non-tech applications for Atlassian\'s core products.• Developed a novel, unsupervised learning algorithm to infer a user\'s job function by leveraging open source LLMs. The algorithm substantially improved the coverage and accuracy of user taxonomy, enabling marketing and product teams to identify growth opportunities and penetrate under-represented industries.• Developed a lifetime value model and engineered an inference pipeline to estimate the present value of customer monthly recurring revenue. Scores were leveraged by our digital advertising team to calculate return on ad spend and set annual spend targets for digital campaigns.
