Accomplished neuroscientist with 25+ years of experience in preclinical translational research related to neurobiology of motivational, reward, affective and cognitive aspects of various psychiatric disorders (e.g, drug and alcohol dependence, impulsivity, depression, schizophrenia, HIV). Supports program development “following the molecule” from Phase 1 First-in-Human through Proof-of-Concept and Phase 2-3 clinical trials for CNS and general medicine indications. Provides translational expertise by reviewing preclinical data and evaluating potential health risks to the study participants based preclinical toxicology, toxicokinetic and pharmacology data. Provides high level scientific input into the clinical trial design, protocol development, study execution as well as the development and use of biomarkers including novel technologies to enhance signal detection and to ensure appropriate patient population selection. Published 65 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and 79 conference abstracts. Received Ph.D. degree in biological sciences (expertise in basic pharmacology) from the Pavlov State Medical University (St. Petersburg, Russia), completed postdoctoral and junior faculty training at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, CA), held a faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego (La Jolla, CA).
