My focal area is Network Production Development where I define the end-to-end architectures of new intercarrier services and focus on technical business development as well as new innovative products.My current lead activities are voice and signaling production strategy & architecture (virtualization, cloud/Hyperscaler), Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) platform and enablement, and DT’s future intercarrier communications production platform and strategy.I notably work on introducing programmable communications APIs as well as a hybrid cloud deployment incl. public cloud for our intercarrier communications platform. I am leading the majority of CPaaS initiatives across segments in DT and build a platform that offers programmable telecoms APIs and embeds them in the Developer Program initiatives as well as various business contexts.I have worked on RCS Business Messaging (RBM) in the past and supported various projects and teams with my expertise around a modern Telecom stack and work methods. My core belief is establishing a best-practice-driven approach in the industry over standardizing the service layer when it comes to Telco services. In that context, I am trying to understand 5G service layer engagement and how we can become attractive to those wanting or needing to consume our APIs.I joined Deutsche Telekom AG together with a large part of my former Engineering team in Q4/2018 as part of a freshly structured department.We are part of the Technology Engineering section, and plan, build and run the international network infrastructure & services that connect DT to the world and the world to DT.

ABOUT SEBASTIAN SCHUMANN
I am a Senior Architect in the Network & Services International unit of Deutsche Telekom Engineering. My mission is to introduce Communications Telco APIs to support our transformation towards an API Telco. I advocate an increased usage of hyperscalers in Telecoms for efficient production and more focus on services for our customers. I am successful in both and have leading roles in building a CPaaS platform and embedding it in DT\'s developer solution and also architected a private/public cloud hybrid intercarrier communications platform that is currently being rolled out. I have also started to look into the exposure layer of 5G from a service perspective.In my prior role as Vice President of Engineering at I led a team of 20 people (ten in-house, ten near-shore partner development). My expertise contributed to the API design, Telco stack integration & technical strategy, and defining future operator scenarios where could be of value. Jointly the team held the responsibility for the entire end-to-end technology stack design & development.Before my management role at I have been with Slovak Telekom (the largest Telco in Slovakia) for almost a decade. I dealt with various VoIP/NGN platforms, led and contributed to the design of fixed & mobile IMS platforms, deployed a cloud-based RCS platform within an international project, and transformed communications services towards the Internet (with a focus on WebRTC). I have been involved in application & service design, integration, and implementation for a long time. I have also developed various services (REST APIs, WebRTC-based service for a couple of hundred users, identity management solution).With my expertise gathered in the last decade, I am a manager & expert in consulting the Telecoms transformation process from a legacy to a modern stack, including leading its implementation.My specialties are IP-based Telco platforms (incl. the convergence of legacy equipment) and the transformation of both platforms and services within the ever-growing competitive market.I am involved in TADSummit & TADHack and try to contribute my share to building a healthy & promising ecosystem for telecom application development. I have a strong network in the Telecoms and developer ecosystems and industry.I hold the Cambridge ESOL: Business English Certificate Higher and have a strong intercultural experience (working & living abroad for ten years) in both daily work in a foreign environment and various multi-national project teams.
