ABOUT SRUTI UPADRASTA

Curiosity and inquisitiveness drive the work I do, the way I do it, and is through which I navigate life. I am a writer and a researcher. During my Bachelor’s where I majored in Political Science, I served as the Joint Secretary of the Women\'s Development Cell, Associate Editor of \'Loktantra\'- the magazine of the Department of Political Science. I was also an active part of other spaces such as the Queer Collective and fine arts clubs. My interest in fieldwork as a researcher was deepened in my time under the Abhijit Sen Rural Internship with Nation Foundation for India, I did my fieldwork in the Dahod District of Gujarat (facilitated by ANANDI) on \"Negotiating Gender and Leisure in Tribal Communities of Gujarat\". I am presently interning with Karwan-e-Mohabbat, Centre for Equity Studies with a focus on human rights, through working on a hate-tracker for religious based hate crimes in India. Currently, I am pursuing my Master\'s in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building from Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia. My major research interests are gender and conflict. I am deeply passionate about social justice and working towards an anti-caste feminist future built on love and care. My area of interests include- gender and sexuality rights, queer rights, conflict, displacement/forced migration, peace building etc. I am looking forward to engaging in more research in future.
