ABOUT SRUTHI SANKARAN

Originally from the Chicagoland area, I have been someone who is very fast-paced and always looking for something more to challenge me. IU Kelley School of Business has already provided me with opportunities to meet all kinds of different people and connect with them. I originally learned persistence through Taekwondo, where I earned my 4th-degree black belt over the course of 12 years. Giving up was never an option, and this attitude follows me even today. I then encountered the opportunity to coach younger students, which allowed me to take on a significant leadership role. I was a mentor to kids who felt discouraged, a feeling I could empathize with from when I started. Although I was not able to always see the progress of my work, I knew that I was changing kids’ lives and that being a leader was the best way I could contribute back to what had shaped my entire life. In high school, I also discovered I enjoyed learning new things and taking risks. I took part in a club called Business Professionals of America, and this was an experience I greatly value. I learned about different aspects of the business world, many of which I did not even know existed. I decided to participate in events that I had never heard of before, as I am someone that enjoys jumping into new tasks. I qualified for State 3 years for my events in Accounting, Business Law and Ethics, Personal Financial Management, and Small Business Management. Through these events, I came to the conclusion that I was passionate about rectifying problems whether they were relating to an individual or a business. In the future, I picture myself in the future working with many different kinds of people to achieve goals, traveling, and encouraging others to do their best.
