   Salt therapy is a method of alternative medicine that is very renowned in the western world for the last almost 150 years. The therapy started in the Eastern European country of Poland where there are many natural salt caves. It was observed that miners working in these natural caves never suffered from any respiratory problems or allergies despite working in very cold conditions. On further investigation it was found that the reason behind this was the presence of large quantities of saline air that the workers used to breathe all the time. This regular inhalation ensured that their lungs were clean and their body had more immunity to fight diseases. This led to the construction of artificial salt caves and the treatment came to be known as Salt therapy. Nowadays salt rooms are used worldwide to fight respiratory and skin allergies.
