About Sripad Krishna Devalla
I co-founded Origin Medical with Jens Thang with a mission to advance maternal health equity by improving access to quality prenatal care through AI. At Origin Medical, we are building next-generation AI that empowers clinicians to deliver expert-level prenatal screening at scale. Origin Medical’s proprietary AI holds the potential to drive advancements in prenatal care to help healthcare professionals improve productivity and ultimately improve patient outcomes.To push the boundaries of innovation, we established the Origin Medical Research Lab, our research arm that brings together global experts at the intersection of AI, medical imaging, and obstetrics to advance maternal health equity through science and technology.Before founding Origin Medical, my research spanned deep learning, medical imaging, and large-scale collaborations across Singapore, the U.K, and India. I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, where my work on deep learning for optical coherence tomography contributed to multiple healthcare AI innovations, over 600 citations, and the creation of a successful NUS deep-tech spin-off, Abyss Processing.My passion lies in translating cutting-edge AI research into real-world clinical impact, bridging innovation and accessibility to make maternal healthcare more equitable globally.
