About Sreekar Rayaprolu
I am a computational materials scientist with significant experience in modeling the microstructural evolution of metals under irradiation using phase-field models. Furthermore, I consider myself a theoretician who loves developing new mathematical models that capture the multi-physics governing mechanisms underlying microstructural evolution. In addition, I am also experienced in conducting atomistic-scale studies through Molecular Dynamics simulations. I recently developed a quantitative phase-field model for void evolution in single-crystalline, irradiated metals that, for the first time, captures the asymmetry in the defect reaction rate at the void surface through a two-mobility Allen-Cahn equation. I also accurately pinpointed the annihilation rate of the defect at the void surface through a modified Cahn-Hilliard equation. Moreover, I have extended the sharp-interface theory for void evolution in single-crystalline irradiated metals by coupling it with the finite-deformation theory, accounting for interfacial stresses, anisotropic interfacial energy, and defect eigenstrain through a multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient.
