I am a microbial geneticist by training, and have used several microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immonology, and microscopy-based methods to understand mechanisms of invasion of host tissues by enterococci and have made significant contributions to various aspects of enterococcal pathogenesis.• Have over 12 years experience in microbial pathogenesis.• Have been responsible for grant writing, designing, executing and supervising several projects within and with numerous collaborators of Dr. Murray’s group (leading researcher in enterococcal pathogenesis).• Co-investigator for 2 currently funded NIH-NIAID RO1 grant awards.• Have over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals.• Co-authored a book chapter: The Enterococci: Pathogenesis, Molecular Biology and Antibiotic Resistance.• Ad-hoc reviewer for following scientific research Journals: Infect Immun, Molr Microbiol, J Bacteriol, PLOS Journals, Science, among others• Co-inventor in US Patent 69•••94, issued on June 21, 2005, titled: “Collagen-binding proteins from enterococcal bacteria”.• Delivered research training to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting scientists (~ 3 to 6 per year, Taught graduate level courses: Microbial Genetics, Recombinant DNA Technology, Biostatistics and conducted laboratory courses for the above-mentioned graduate level programs at the University of Madras (19••••97).NGS Experience from 2012.Specialties: • Well rounded, experienced researcher with expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and microscopy based methodologies. • Well-versed in genome-wide bio-informatics and statistics.• Creative and resourceful. • Have critical thinking, systematic designing and meticulous analyzing qualities with immense foresight.
