About Stephanie Shushan
A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.” – Nelson Mandela Improving the health of people and communities also requires innovation and collaboration! The healthcare system is complex, where silos, stale approaches and constant changes can be a challenge in reaching our collective goals to improve the health of our communities. Making intentional changes to address sticky problems can have a significant impact throughout healthcare at the individual and system level. My career can be best characterized by \"starting new paths in service delivery and advancing innovative best practices.\" This is demonstrated across multiple healthcare settings including hospitals, academic research, Medicaid Managed Care and safety net clinics. Examples that I\'m most proud of are developing administrative structure and advancing initiatives to support multiple Critical Care services in implementing new services and providing person-centered care, advancing adoption Collaborative Care to increase access to care evidence-based behavioral health care, developing a digital navigation program, assisting with Statewide telehealth provider training in response to COVID-19 and supporting the launch of new Medicaid benefits across California. Through my experience, I have demonstrated a capacity to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, successfully advance multiple projects, and solve complex time-sensitive problems in a way that acknowledges the ultimate goal to improve the delivery of healthcare. These qualities have been invaluable in my implementation of initiatives and projects focusing on program implementation, workflow modification, healthcare workforce training, clinical research identifying new best practices and managing incentive programs and value-based care initiatives. My innate abilities include- Making connections across people, organizations and initiatives - Quickly process new information - Taking ownership and responsibility for projects and programs - Creatively solve problems - Easily adapt to changes and complexities - Bring humor to get through challenging situations When I’m not focusing on improving healthcare, I enjoy traveling, music and dancing, expanding on the 12+ styles of dance that I have learned over the years. I also value connecting with community through volunteering and supporting efforts to bring people together. I am always interested in learning about innovative ways to improve health. Please reach out and share how we can work together or support each other.
